EPSON STYLUS PHOTO R800
Average User Rating:

Advantages:
Fine-art color/b&w print quality on both glossy and matte papers. Uses Ultrachrome High-Gloss pigment inks. Matte black and photo black inks can be installed in the printer at the same time. Borderless inkjet photos of archival quality, rated up to 80 years for both the matte and glossy recommended papers. Accepts sheet or roll paper, prints on CDs. Save ink with 8 individual ink cartridges, including matte black and gloss optimizer. If your digital camera has PRINT Image Matching II capability, this printer will utilize that technology. Prints borderless sizes 4" x 6", 5" x 7", 8" x 10" and panoramic. Introduced in February 2004.

The R800 totally eliminates "bronzing" with the gloss optimizer cartridge. This option can be turned off and on in the print options. Bronzing is brownish, metalic effect that pigment inks produce on glossy paper in the high ink density areas. The gloss optimizer is a colorless varnish. The varnish also prevents lightly printed areas from looking dull compared to the rest of the photo.

Drawbacks:
No serious drawbacks.
